After reviewing the initial Advantage program 3 years ago, it was obvious to me that a number of the skills developed in the students were exactly those that Motorola develops in its next generation leadership development programmes. The close relationships fostered with industry have brought together a unique set of industry partners that also contribute to the learning experience for the students and the staff participants of the industry partners.
I thought that he was an exceptional intern: very smart, very helpful and a good team player. He assisted us with several substantive projects and said that he also got a lot from his time with us. During his two weeks with the AIIA, our intern completed two substantial projects for us, as well as participating in National Office operations and attending several diplomatic and AIIA functions. In so doing, he displayed a keen and analytical mind and good project skills. He was a welcome colleague and worked well with the AIIA staff and interns team. A good win-win placement for (the intern) and AIIA.
It was a pleasure to host Chantinee. She made a valuable contribution to our work and, based on her feedback, she learnt a lot from her time with us. We are discussing with Chantinee and her supervisor ways to continue our collaboration with her work in Phuket.
Agung played mainly an observation role during this week to gain a better understanding of the projects and processes that the department undertakes. Agung had excellent communication skills an example of this was Agung’s style of questions which were thought provoking and showed his grasp of subjects discussed. Overall Agung fit in very well into ISS and we would be more than happy to offer Agung another placement opportunity in 2010.
The program extends motivated students, motivates others through example, develops vital professional and personal skills and, importantly, directly involves students in the community, in workplaces and with mentors and potential employers. The range and complexity of the projects in which students have been involved are truly exceptional
