Awards

AELC Programs have been acknowledged as being at the forefront of experiential learning and career development through a variety of channels. And we have a massive trophy cabinet to prove it!
The AELC ‘Advantage’ Program designed and delivered for Curtin University of Technology, won first place in the ‘Students in Free Enterprise’ (SIFE) international competition in Barcelona (2004) which gave Australia the honour of being the first country other than the U.S.A to win the SIFE World Cup in 29 years.
We have produced annual winners of the prestigious Young Achievement Australia state and national Award for Business Plan, Company of the Year, Most Innovative Company and Best Marketing Plan from 2001, 2003, to 2004 when the program was closed. This program was an opportunity for over 200,000 students to design and run their own small business over seven months, with the best competing for the coveted awards.
In 2005 we were also honoured to win the Australian Awards for University Teaching – Institutional Awards. Since 2005 we have and designed and delivered the National Business Icon competition www.australianbusinessicon.com, our own awards program.
Our founder and CEO Tracey Hodgkins is also an award winning business person and educator. After a long list of achievements including being named Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year in 2003, she was awarded the prestigious 2005 Telstra WA Business Woman of the Year award. She is named and quoted for her achievements in the ‘Whos Who of Australian Women’.
Our Organisation
AELC Internship Australia Program is a project of The Australian Experiential Learning Centre, a social venture developed as a means of bridging the gap between university and the workplace for young professionals. That mission has since expanded to include a range of other groups including entrepreneurs, not for profits and those interested in personal development.
The Australian Experiential Learning Centre (AELC) specialises in the field of experiential learning. This form of learning allows individuals the opportunity to practice their theoretical skills in a real environment with real outcomes. AELC is passionate about internships which promote linkages and networks together with understanding and cultural exchange through on‐the‐job practical training.
We have been specializing in the delivery of professional internship placements for a number of years now. Hundreds of Australian and international students have participated in an AELC internship, in areas as diverse as accounting, engineering, marketing, healthcare, environmental sciences and international aid. We have become skilled in finding excellent placements for people – placements which are tailored to fit the unique wishes of the individual.
When you sign up as an intern with us we take time to get to know you, your passions, career goals and placement aims. Then our team works hard to find you an excellent placement which will match well with your aims, build the skills you need, and most of all be very interesting to you.
We have also developed close relationships with leading Australian organizations in the corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors. These organizations often don’t offer placements to students but work with us because of the high caliber of our applicants. They find benefit in hosting motivated AELC interns and ask us to find them more.
