I had no prior experience of working in a typical corporate world before I went for the internship. I just came across this internship program which I had no clue what it would be about but I had a good feeling about it so I just gave it a shot. I have always excelled in education but when I went for work the first day, I was taken aback with how absolutely things differed from what we learned from the textbooks.
I started getting a hang of things in a few days. I met a whole lot of lovely people during my internship and I reckon networking is very vital in the business field. I started getting to know about how to behave in a workplace, how to work with client documents, how to act in a meeting with the principal and how to work with the customers. I got a whole new professional approach which definitely served me in the right way. I am so pleased to have this opportunity. It was a complete one-off thing which cannot be missed! I would give all the credit to AELC for being such a socially responsible organisation and especially to Kathleen and Tracey. I would personally recommend such internships to all I can because they abridge ones way into the professional world and Australia is in the need of people who have prior experience and are also ready for dealing with people and the certificate you get after finishing your internship comes very handy when you are searching for your career job and sometimes you can also score the same job like I did!
Finally after learning the theories of today’s business world, I can actually practice it in real life and in accordance with my studies. Now, not only will I graduate with a real degree but also with practical work experience to give me an edge in the working world.
It’s great that I could find a role that relates to my career aspirations at the Multicultural Health Communication Services (MCHCS) for my internship. It was an exciting place to improve my communication skills and …I found the MCHCS team extremely helpful and supportive… a very enthusiastic, cooperative and flexible team. The experience on project planning and strategic planning was indeed an inspiration for designing a program that is not only original, but also an instrument for aiding the community development of my country.
One of the best aspects … is that it lets you work in areas that you find fascinating, and at a level of responsibility that just doesn’t exist in any other program.
My internship provided me with the tools and experience necessary to take back home and implement some of the strategies that I have learned here. I worked closely with the other staff members to develop an understanding of the Australian work atmosphere which allowed me to develop a degree of independence and greater sense of confidence. In particular, I am glad that I am able to contribute a project on “Climate Change Adaptation strategies of Local Government” which will assist the local government in supporting the climate change agenda of Victoria. In the process I had the opportunity to gain some useful insights and information which will assist me in all my future endeavours.
I am writing to strongly confirm that I am totally satisfied with the placement and all programs that I have been through. The internship made me more aware of how lovely and nice Australian people are. All of the people who I have met with are very helpful and everything just goes beyond my expectations, the internship was more than fruitful to me. I have some valuable hands-on experience which can influence all of my future directions.
The program extends motivated students, motivates others through example, develops vital professional and personal skills and, importantly, directly involves students in the community, in workplaces and with mentors and potential employers. The range and complexity of the projects in which students have been involved are truly exceptional.
This internship enriched me both academically and practically. I am confident that this internship has provided me with ample opportunities to gain knowledge and skills. I feel extremely satisfied that I was able to gather valuable knowledge and experience which will be useful for developing my doctoral thesis. My internship with ICANN inevitably opened up a new path for my research studies as well as giving me an insight into how to hone my leadership skills in my research.
…having an opportunity of working internship for Santos Ltd. – one of Australia’s leading oil and gas companies was a great chance for me to share and to learn leadership skills. The valuable experience accumulated at Santos would help me to develop my career I do hope that, with knowledge and practical experience achieved in Australia, I could contribute to the development of Vietnam oil and gas industry in particular and the world oil and gas industry in general.
